Waffle and Sarah Mohammadi from Hayes announced by the Kennel Club today as finalists for the prestigious Crufts dog hero competition, Friends for Life 2018, at the official launch of Crufts 2018.

Chosen from the ChildÕs Hero category are Sarah and Waffle. Waffle is SarahÕs hearing dog. Sarah is 14 years old and profoundly deaf. She was matched with Waffle by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People one week before Christmas in 2012. Waffle is now five, and since they were matched the change Waffle has brought to SarahÕs life is enormous. Waffle is SarahÕs best friend and always there for her.

Sarah says Waffle is her ears. Waffle wakes Sarah up with the alarm clock every morning as Sarah canÕt hear it. For a child that could never sleep in her bedroom as she felt so alone, she can now do this, knowing Waffle is there. Sarah is more confident and can get out more knowing Waffle is with her, and where Sarah would not and could not make conversation to strangers before or even achieve eye contact, because of Waffle she now can. Waffle is SarahÕs hero, a complete life changer.

Crufts is the world's greatest dog show and this year will see more than 21,000 healthy, happy dogs competing for the coveted 'Best in Show' title as well as taking part in the many other competitions that take place at the show, from Agility and Flyball to the hero dog competition Eukanuba Friends for Life and Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year. Crufts 2018 runs from the 8th to the 11th March at the NEC, Birmingham.

Crufts is the perfect opportunity for dog lovers meet around 200 breeds of dog, find out how to go about getting a dog, and to find out about activities and competitions they can get involved in with their own dog.
